RENTING A CAR ?? FOLLOW OUR RECOMMENDATIONS..

In this article we collect useful information on aspects that you should take into account when renting a car:

Documents you need to rent a car:

Valid driver's license ID / Passport Credit / debit card (depending on the company)

Restrictions on age:

Many companies have classified the age of the driver from 25 to 65 years old (it can vary), without embargoes if it does not fall within this range they will charge you an extra at the indicated rate.

Insurance:

Basic Coverage: Covers damages to third parties and in case of damages to the rented car, you are fully responsible.

Limited Coverage: In case of damage to the rented car, the amount for which the agency is responsible is established.

Broad Coverage: The insurance covers in case of collision, with typical exclusions such as damage to tires, windows, floor and roof, etc.

Coverage Plus: Includes tire insurance, protection against sandstorms, river crossing protection, protection against theft and many more depending on the company.

Deposit:

The rental companies retain a deposit amount as security, which will cover traffic fines, missing gasoline and any damage to the rented vehicle.

Depending on the type of insurance you acquire, the rental company will take a greater or lesser deposit. It varies by country and car category, but can easily reach thousands of dollars.

Payment method:

90% of companies require the driver to have a credit card in their own name. There are cities and countries where you can not rent a card without a credit card.

The rent in cash or with debit card: it is not impossible. But first you need to find a company that has this payment method. Although the company will require you to pay for the highest available insurance package they offer.

Collection and Delivery:

Agencies usually charge an extra if you want to pick up / deliver in different offices. Each rental agency has their work schedules that are important to know, as they could save you a lot of money.

Gasoline policy:

Full tank: it will be full when you pick it up, be sure to fill it when you deliver it, otherwise the agency will charge you the missing gasoline at a penalty price.

Pre-purchase: You will pay for the fuel in the tank when you pick up the car. Try to leave the car as empty as possible, since the car rental company will not reimburse unused fuel.

Pre-purchase (reimbursement): Pay for the fuel that is in the tank when you pick up your car. You will get a partial refund for any fuel you do not use.

Limited or unlimited kilometers:

Some companies offer cheaper prices, but restrictions on mileage apply, if you overcome these restrictions, you will have to pay for each kilometer which varies depending on the company.

Recommendations when picking up the car:

Confirm if the fuel level is what it should be, and if it is lower, you should go back to the agency and state the problem.

Check for damage to the interior and exterior of the car, if you find any damage, this should come on the car's damage sheet, otherwise an employee of the company should add this damage too.

After taking all these care ....

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
